Salesforce is rolling out more than 30 new features for Slack, positioning the workplace chat app as an AI work console rather than just a messaging tool. Two of the headline updates are meeting transcription and an “operator mode” that can complete multi-step tasks from the desktop.

The operator concept is significant because it moves Slack toward agentic workflows: instead of users manually switching apps or issuing a series of instructions, Slack can take actions across steps within a task flow. In practice, that means Slack becomes a hub where work can be initiated and carried through to completion, rather than ending at message exchange.

The meeting transcription feature also fits this direction. By turning meeting audio into text inside Slack, teams gain searchable and reusable context where their collaboration already happens. That reduces friction when people want to revisit decisions, pull out action items, or feed discussion context into follow-on work.
